MUCH better

Today was fantastic. Shelly felt very well, got out of bed a few times, used the restroom on her own, ate normal food, didn't feel nauseous, pain was still there but usually tolerable, no contractions... a resounding success. She had been improving a little each day since the surgery, but today was quite a jump from yesterday. They removed the IV and the oxygen nose thingy. She's very conversational today as well, and had a few good phone calls. (If yesterday's post dissuaded any of you from calling, sorry; don't hesitate to give her a call tomorrow.) And Kaitlyn is still doing great too; she looked great on today's ultrasound. Everything seems to be on track for us getting discharged on Tuesday, probably.

  2. Dear Shelly,

I just heard the news a few weeks ago from Becky, and today I read an update from Liz! I just want to let you know I am so happy that the surgery went well and that you are starting to feel better. What an amazing thing that medical science can do now!!! You will be the perfect mother to Kaitlyn, no matter what challenges lie ahead. And she will be the best thing to come into your lives, for so many different reasons. She has a special purpose and mission to fulfill and her disability is part of what will help her be able to fulfill it. I know you and Kendall can get through the hard times. You are both amazing!!! Sending you my love, prayers, and wishes for a speedy recovery and continued healthy pregnancy!

    Love,
    Julie

  3. Yeah! I am so glad to hear that Shelly is feeling better and that Kaitlyn seems to have rebounded just great. That's wonderful news.
By the way, Damon and Audry definitely left their mark on our home. We've been laughing for a week at all the cute things they said while they were here. Derek has said, at least once a day, "Der-you-goooo." You've got awesome kids.
You continue to be in our prayers...hopefully things only get better and better from here. It sounds like you're through the tough part. Hooray!

So, "pace yourself", make Kendall do all the grunt work, and enjoy the life of leisure til your kids get there! We love you! Keep up the great work of healing, and tell little Kaitlyn Gramma is proud of her!

    Love ya.

  10. It was so good to talk to you yesterday, Shell, and hope you continue to feel better and better. I just put some pictures of the kids on my blog from when they were here if you want to see them. Oh, and I can't find your mail key, but I did find our spare one in that drawer. Take care!

  12. Hello Kendall and Shelly,
Congratulations - it sounds like the past few days were very successful! You are such a neat family. Strong, wise, and loving. Ava had a wonderful time with Damon and Audrey last week. Such well behaved kids! (And one excellent napper!)

I'm so glad you are blogging for all of us back at home. Kendall is a wonderful writer. Funny too! Ava can't wait to hear you play the "IT TAR" again. She'll probably request Follow the "Prafit".
You are in our prayers. -Allison Swensen
